Useful Info About Rome...

Visiting Rome for the first time can be a shock to the system - the vibrant and atmospheric capital of Italy has a strong personality and it’s a good idea to have a little bit of knowledge in your arsenal before you arrive. Once here, our multilingual and friendly concierge team will be more than happy to provide you with a wealth of useful info about Rome more specific to your queries but for now, here are a few hints and tips.

TimeOut Guide to Rome is the most up to date resource for gigs, concerts, classical events and exhibitions going on 365 days a year in the Eternal City.

Wanted in Rome is a publication written by and for English speakers in Rome, of which there are several thousand in the ex-pat community.

Tripadvisor features honest and independent reviews of accommodations and destinations all over the world. Read before you go!

APT Roma is the equivalent of a tourist board and this site features news, events, maps, useful info on Rome and other helpful resources.

Street Vendors

Occasionally a great bargain can be found on the streets of Rome but follow a few golden rules: never pay more than about 20% of the vendor’s first asking price. Often, imitation silver bracelets and the like start in the region of €100 but can be bought for as low as €5 if you stick to your guns.

Tours operated by mother-tongue English speaking guides are available throughout the city and are easily found by simply hanging around the major landmarks. Some tours are even free, but in many cases, freelance guides offer better and cheaper tours than so-called ‘licenced’ guides.
